Freetown's Board Houses

Despite the fact that many of these board houses are in decaying condition, the aesthetic of them not being touched or maintained allow visitors and passers by to view the building and its raw history. The wooden structures built by freed Americans slaves that still stand to this day, some dating back to 1792, when the first freed slaves arrived in Freetown. Structures such as the single-story Freetown Board House resemble colonial-era dwellings.
